Pass The Nuts, Please

Do you snack on nuts?
Nuts are a good source of protein, fiber and healthy fats. They are a perfect midmorning or afternoon snack. Lately, you may have noticed nuts have been coming with fancy flavors and coatings. How is this different on your snack?

1-ounce VS 1-ounce
Walnuts VS Glazed Walnuts- 185 calories VS 140 calories and 9 grams of sugar
Almonds VS Oil Roasted Marcona Almonds- 170 calories VS 175 calories and 2 grams of sugar
Cashews VS Honey Roasted Cashews- 155 calories VS 160 calories and 4 grams of sugar
Peanuts VS Chipotle Peanuts- 162 calories VS 153 calories and 4 grams of sugar
Pistachio VS Salt & Pepper Pistachio- 159 calories VS 152 calories and 2 grams of sugar

Instead of nuts alone, there are several ways to use them.
Sprinkle them on top of salads, steamed vegetables, your morning oatmeal.
Add them to stir fry, your dessert, or mix up your own trail mix.
Food Network has an easy trail mix recipe:
They suggest you combine equal parts of nuts, dried fruit, and a little something like popcorn, pretzels, or cereal for extra crunch. Store your trail mix in an air tight container. It should last up to 1 month.

Go nutty.
