Meatloaf With An Italian Twist

 Breakup With Italian Food

I have a huge craving for Italian food . It is my achilles heel for me . That’s the biggest struggle when you make a change . Making fresh food taste good . Getting it into your head that food is fuel . Having an emotional tie to food is another part of the puzzle for me . First I had to take down the taste . If it taste good your gonna eat it . Right ? Of course and who does not like meat balls ? Everyone loves them . What’s a meatloaf but a bigger version of a meat ball .

Mad Scientist Time

You guys know how I love to put a twist on things . We needed a little variation to the recipe I once made . Since I had no fresh onions on hand . I made a decision to use onion powder as I had run out . Let’s just say it was a success to say the least . At my sister’s house I had used 5 cloves of fresh garlic instead of garlic powder . Turned out amazing and basically my kids are all the meatballs and left the pasta . This time I had run out of fresh garlic . So I did what anyone would do . I improvised with what I had on hand . Guess what it came out better than before .

The Recipe:

1 pound of ground turkey

1/2 pound of ground beef

2 tablespoon of Parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon of himalayan salt

1 teaspoon of oregano

2 teaspoon of onion powder

2 teaspoons of garlic powder

1/4 of a cup of parsley flakes

A jar of pasta sauce (classico for me )

Preheat oven to 375

Form into a nice loaf or shape of a football

Place in oven and cover with foil for 45 mins

Uncover meatloaf and pour pasta sauce over it

Place back in oven for another 20 mins

Then take out and let cool for 10 mins and serve
